Modular fluid filter

The modular fluid filter is assembled from an upper, a lower and one or more middle sections to suit a number of filtration requirements. The filter is a modular assembly of an upper, a lower and one or more middle sections. The filter can therefore be adapted to a variety of filtration requirements, such as the choice of filter element or even disposition of the piping. Backwashing of a rigid element is through a channel (9), which incorporates scrapers, as the element is rotated. A cyclonic portion (10) separates coarse matter before the raw fluid reaches the element, and guides (B11 with alternative positions A and C) inhibit turbulent flow. A sludge trap (12) is also provided.
