The acceleration detector has a casing (1) containing a rotatable mass (3) acting as an inertia mass. The mass moves along a defined path upon rotation in response to an acceleration, against the force of a spring (7), to close a pair of electrical contacts (4) via the curved plastics periphery (3a) of the mass, when a given acceleration is detected.
