The burner (11) has a gas-and-air mixer connection (12) and a cold-air supply (13) to the burner. The sheet metal walls (15) extending the length of the burner from the burner's two lengthwise side walls (14) protrude towards the flames and enclose the burner and flame. Two backward-angled wall-strips (16,17) on each sheet metal walls contain rows of holes (18,19) extending in a lengthwise direction. The cold air is conducted via separately adjustable inlets (20) to the rear housing (21) of the burner from where it flows over the burner's side housing walls (22)
