The invention relates to the application of indanones of formula (I) for dying fibers containing keratin, wherein R<1> and R<2>, each independent of one another, represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a (C1-C4)-alkyl group, (C1-C4)-alkoxyl group, hydroxy-(C1-C4)-alkoxyl group, hydroxy group, nitro group, carboxyl group, sulfo group, amino group, said amino group can be substituted by (C1-C4)-alkyl group, or (C1-C4)-acyl groups, whereby the residuals R<1> and R<2> can form a fused benzole ring together, X represents a nitromethylene group, an isonitrosomethylene group or a carbonyl group, and Y represents a methylene group, ethylene group or carbonyl group, with the provision that X and Y are not a carbonyl group at the same time, in the presence of at least one compound with a primary or secondary amino group or hydroxy group, selected from primary or secondary aliphatic or aromatic amines, heterocyclic compounds containing nitrogen, alpha - to omega - amino acids, oligopeptides constructed from 2 to 9 amino acids, and aromatic hydroxy compounds, and/or at least one CH-active compound. |
