Communication system and method for transmitting a video signal

A communication system (100) including a video transmitting unit (102) communicating a video signal to a video receiving unit (104) over a video communication link (105) is provided. A feedback of a user input from the video receiving unit (104) to the video transmitting unit (102) allows the receiving user to dynamically control the resource usage and quality of the received video signal. Specifically it allows the receiving user to dynamically control the trade-off between the cost and the quality of the connection. The invention is suitable for, but not limited to, communication systems where a common resource is shared between a plurality of users. <IMAGE>
