Stable vaccine compositions allow safe and efficacious use of an oil emulsion vaccine for the initial single dose vaccination of previously unvaccinated animals and/or the subsequent annual booster vaccination. The vaccine compositions have a viscosity of 100m Pas or less and comprise multi-phase emulsions including an oil phase acting as adjuvant and preservative and an aqueous phase including one or more antigens selected from diseases of cattle or sheep. The oily adjuvant is acceptable for veterinary purposes and comprises a synthetic hydrocarbon being between 40 % and 60 % by weight of the emulsion and an emulsifier, selected so that the inversion point of the resulting emulsion is between 25 DEG C and 45 DEG C, and being between 2 % and 10 % by weight of the emulsion.
