<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the continuous operation of a computer system even when the faults simultaneously occur at plural nodes by deciding that every answer reconfiguration message designates the membership of a newly proposed cluster. SOLUTION: If a cluster membership monitor(CMM) 220A receives the reconfiguration messages from all participant nodes, the CMM 220A compares these received messages with each other to decide whether all the messages show the same cluster, i.e., these messages have mutual agreements about the membership of a proposed cluster. If the mutual agreements are secured in all points, the proposed cluster is accepted. Then a node 0 copies the data to a cluster size field 304 and a cluster vector field 306 from the next cluster size field 308 and the next cluster vector field 310 respectively and stores the proposed cluster as the current one.</p> |
