PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To input a text with higher efficiency by means of a pen by adding a spacial ambiguity retrieval mechanism and a dynamic handwritten character recognition mechanism to pen type text input system that is operated based on estimation and ambiguity retrieval. SOLUTION: A CPU 1 processes the data stored in a RAM 3 based on a basic program stored in a ROM 2. When the characters are inputted, the candidate words are retrieved by referring to a dictionary that is stored in the ROM 2, RAM 3 or an optical disk 28, etc., and under the control of a CPU 2. In other words, a group of the circuits contg. the above construct a retrieval means of candidate words. A liquid crystal drive circuit 7 is connected to the CPU 1 via an application specific integrated circuit(ASIC) 6. The surface of a pressure-sensitive tablet 9 is touched by an input pen 25, etc., to produce a coordinate position signal that shows the coordinates of the touched position. Then the CPU 1 retrieves ambiguity of a word dictionary and stores the candidate words obtained by the retrieval into a candidate set buffer. |
