<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optically coupled device which is capable of surely identifying a paper sheet used for a data equipment such as a printer or the like. SOLUTION: A light emitting device 3 which emits light towards a path 2 through which detection object S is sent, a transmitted light photodetector 4 which detects light that penetrates through the detection object S in the path 2, and a reflected light photodetector 5 which detects light reflected from the detection object S are provided in a case 1. It is identified from the light volume detected by the photodetectors 4 and 5 whether the detection object S is present or not and what the kind of the detection object S is. Concretely, the transmitted light photodetector 4 and the light emitting device 3 are arranged confronting each other through the intermediary of the path 2 (S), and the reflected light photodetector 5 is arranged by the side of the light emitting device 3 confronting the transmitted light photodetector 4 through the intermediary of the path 2. The light emitting device 3 and the transmitted light photodetector 4 are arranged confronting each other so as to make an optical path which extends from the light emitting device 3 to the transmitted light photodetector 4 obliquely intersect the advancing direction of the detection object.</p> |
