PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the shift device of an outboard motor which permits setting in a neutral range. SOLUTION: This shift device is provided with a clutch device which involve a reverse sleeve 39 formed so as to slide freely in a clutch housing 38; an upper plunger 42 formed so as to slide freely in the reverse sleeve, a forward sleeve 44 formed so as to slide freely in the clutch housing; a lower plunger 51 formed so as to slide freely in the forward sleeve; and return notch balls 40, 45 for keeping both the sleeves 39, 44 at a prescribed position. By forming staged parts 54, 55 capable of storing the return notch balls at the lower part of the upper plunger and the upper part of the lower plunger, and conducting setting so that the return notch balls may be stored in the staged parts 54, 55 with the respective plungers moving by a certain distance, it is possible to set such a range as a vertical slider 36 is not interlocked even if a shift shaft is moved vertically. |
