PRODUCTION OF BINDER RESIN FOR ELECTROSTATIC CHARGE IMAGE DEVELOPING TONER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for efficiently producing a binder resin for a toner at a low cost by mixing a solvent-free resin and a resin-emulsified dispersion liquid under specified conditions while stirring and further removing the water content. SOLUTION: The paddle 1 and the rotating axis 2 have vacancies inside so that a heat medium introduced through a heat medium entrance 7 of an entrance rotary joint 6 passes through the vacancy of the rotation axis 2 and through the vacancy of the paddle 1 and then discharged through a heat medium exit 9 of an exit rotary joint 8. A solvent-free resin and a resin-emulsified dispersion liquid are supplied and mixed under stirring in a rotary dryer having the rotary axis 2 with the paddle 1 fixed placed in the body and having >=50% vacancy rate. The mixture is then subjected to the treatment to remove water and if necessary to kneading. The uniformly mixed solvent-free resin mixture compsn. is then pulverized. Thus, the binder resin for an electrostatic charge image developing toner can be efficiently produced at a low cost.
