PCMCIA CARD AND PROGRAMMING METHOD THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for dynamically setting a PCMCIA- compatible card where new corrected setting parameters can be loaded to FPGA of the card. SOLUTION: The PCMCIA card is so set that it operates initially as a memory device. In this mode, PGFA of the card is loaded from a host computer through a PCMCIA interface by using a memory write instruction. Then the card is so set again that it operates as an I/O device by using the newly loaded FPGA code. A new PCMCIA card design is quickly changed and tested by downloading a code to the FPGA to enable the card to operate as an I/O device. The card can hold the new corrected function by nonvolatility of the FPGA card even after the power source is turned off. Further, necessary alterations can dynamically be made without turning off the computer.
