PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively utilize the performance of a connected television(TV) monitor by outputting the video signal of a format optimum for the kind the TV monitor connected by transforming the format of the video signal to be outputted, corresponding to the kind of the connected TV monitor. SOLUTION: The digital broadcasting receiver is provided with an NTSC signal output terminal 37 and a high-definition television signal output terminal 36, and a video format transforming circuit 25 is added for converting NTSC video into high-definition television video. In this case, when an NTSC monitor is connected to the receiver, the on-screen display(OSD) picture of an NTSC resolution is superimposed on video and when a high-definition television monitor is connected, the OSD picture of a high-definition television resolution is superimposed and outputted.
