PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical recording medium being excellent in recording and reproduction with short-wave semiconductor laser beams and having good light resistance and durability by using a metal chelate compound obtained from a specified azoic compound and a metal salt. SOLUTION: The metal chelate compound is formed from an azoic compound represented by the formula (wherein A1 is a residue which together with the carbon and nitrogen atoms to which it is bonded forms a five- or six-membered heterocyclic ring; X is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl, an alkoxyl, or a halogen atom; Y is a 1-6C linear or branched alkyl at least two of the hydrogen atoms of which are substituted by fluorine atoms; and R1 and R2 , which are independent of each other, are hydrogen atoms, (substituted) alkyl groups, or residues which may be combined with each other to form a ring) and a metal salt. The metal salt is desirably a salt of Ni, Co, or Cu. In the formula, A1 is desirably a residue which together with the carbon and nitrogen atoms to which it is bonded forms a heterocyclic ring such as a pyrazole, thiazole, or imidazole ring. |
