PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallized film capacitor and a method for the manufacture of a metallized film, wherein current resistance characteristic is enhanced while tanδvalue of the capacitor is prevented from increasing. SOLUTION: This metallized film capacitor is obtained by wrapping or laminating a metallized film 1. The side ends of the metallized film 1 to be coated with a metallikon 6, which is equivalent to the thickness of the metallized film 1, are metallized in advance to make firm the contact between the metallikon 3 and the metallized film. The metallized film 1 for use therein is slit to a specified width and is in a reeled state. Metals such as aluminum and zinc are evaporated or sprayed to the side ends of the metallized film 1 where the metallikon 6 is subjected to coating.
