The coolant channels are drained, then a repair medium comprising a leak sealing substance is circulated through the coolant channels using a pump system that can be coupled to the channels. A method for sealing a bottom part in a metallurgical oven, the parts containing one or more parallel channels connectable to a coolant system, comprises the following steps: (a) uncoupling the coolant system from the bottom part and optionally draining off any coolant inside these parts; (b) connecting the bottom part to a repair system; (c) conditioning a repair medium comprising a leak-sealing substance, and circulating it through the bottom part; (d) uncoupling the repair system from the bottom part and optionally draining off any repair medium; and (e) optionally reconnecting the coolant system to the bottom part. An Independent claim is also included for the apparatus used to carry out this method, including a repair medium conditioning device (11, 12), pump system (13) and hoses (16, 17) for connection to the coolant channels. |
