PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shifting control device for an automatic transmission, which will never give unpleasant feeling to occupants other than a driver even when a vehicle is run by a manual shifting mode. SOLUTION: This automatic transmission is so designed that a specified shifting step is selected by letting the various kinds of friction elements for a shifting gear mechanism be selectively operated by means of line pressure, and shifting to the other shifting step is conducted by changing the operating friction element, switch-over to either of an automatically shifting mode and a manual shifting mode, is detected by a shifting mode detection sensor, automatically shifting mode-shifting control is executed in response to the detected signal under the automatically shifting mode, and different shifting control different from the automatically shifting mode, is executed under the manual shifting mode. It is detected by an occupant sensor 210 whether occupants other than a driver are present or not, line pressure at the time of each shifting is so adjusted as to be different respectively, based on the result of detection on shifting modes by means of the shifting mode detection sensor 208, and the result of detecting whether the occupants are present or not by means of the occupant sensor 210. |
