PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent shifting from being shifted up to fourth speed at the unexpected time causing occupants to be in a sense of incongruity in a device which allows a prohibition condition to fourth speed to be released after a constant period of time has elapsed since a specified condition was ready. SOLUTION: When an acceleration pedal is returned at the time of running on an uphill road, up-shifting to fourth speed is prohibited. This prohibition is released by returning the acceleration pedal when a vehicle is moved to a flat road from the up-hill road, and shifting to fourth speed is thereby permitted. When the acceleration pedal is returned after the vehicle has moved to the flat road, since shifting to fourth speed is usually expected, no body will be in a sense of incongruity even if the aforesaid shifting is actually actuated. |
