PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speedily and efficiently perform the recovery work of a communication fault. SOLUTION: Concerning this optical communication system, communication equipment (A)1 and communication equipment (B)2 are opposed and connected by two sets of optical fiber cables 9 so as to enable bidirectional transmission/ reception. Optical signals inputted to respective optical communication parts 3 are converted to digital electric signals by optic/electric converters 6, sent to discrimination parts 7 and sent to serial/parallel code converters 11. At respective electric/optic converters 5, the data of electric signals are converted to the data of optical signals and outputted through the optical fiber cables 9 to the respective optic/electric converters. When any defect of a communication function occurs at any one of optical communication parts 3 or optical fiber cables 9, monitor parts 30 limit and specify the defective part. |
