<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a power cable joint which can be used under a voltage higher than under a conventional joint and has an improved electrical performance. SOLUTION: The insulating coverings of the end parts of a pair of power cables 1 and 3 which are to be connected to each other are removed in tapered shapes to expose conductors 9 and 11. The conductors 9 and 11 are connected to each other, and further, tape windings are applied to both the power cables 1 and 2 with the conductor joint in the middle across the outer circumference of the one power cable 1 and the outer circumference of the other power cable 2 and subjected to a heated molding process to form a reinforced insulating layer. The reinforced insulating layer consists of a reinforced insulating tape layer 17 of a multilayered construction. The reinforced insulating tape layer 17 consists of a first reinforced insulating tape layer made of EPR tape and second reinforcing insulating tape layer and thereafter made of straight-chain polyolefin based resin.</p> |
