PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera with a solid-state image-pickup device as image- receiving means with which picture quality will not be spoiled, even when an iris is used for limiting the quantity of light. SOLUTION: This camera is provided with an image-pickup lens 1, consisting of an optical system for forming the image of an object on an image-forming plane, iris means 2 for controlling the quantity of light made incident to the image-forming plane by controlling an aperture area, a CCD 3 for generating an image signal by performing photoelectric conversion to the image provided by the image-pickup lens 1 while being provided at the position of the image forming plane of the image pickup lens 1, an optical low-pass filter LF for removing he high frequency components of the image made incident to this CCD 3, and a control means 20 for inserting this optical low-pass filter LF into an optical pat or performing control to save the filter. In this case, the pixel pitch of the CCD 23 is made less than 7.0μm, and the control means 20 controls the optical low-pass filter LF, corresponding to the iris value of the iris means 2.
