PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize an optical modulating device which is made simple in constitution and small-sized by removing cost rising factors resulting from the adoption of a polarization-nondependent optical circulator and has transmission loss improved and to provide the receiving device using it. SOLUTION: The optical modulating device 1 is so constituted that two polarized lights separated by a polarized light demultiplexer multiplexer 23 are transmitted through a Faraday rotator 25 and made incident on reflection type optical modulators 21 and 22 and the emitted modulated lights are also transmitted through the Faraday rotator 25 and put together and emitted by the polarized light multiplexer demultiplexer 23. Then the receiving device is constituted by mounting this optical modulating device 1. |
