The method for spirally winding a web (4) of non-elastic material onto a reel (1) comprises unwinding the web (1) from a stand (5) positioned at right angles to the reel, so that the web is guided over a pivotably suspended bar (7) extending in the web cross-direction between the reel and unwind stand. A trolley (6) is used to move the web in a sideways direction in the reel length direction during wind-up. Differences in web tension between the front and rear edges of the web result in the bar automatically pivoting until it adopts a position where web tension is uniform across the rod, allowing the web to be wound-up without wrinkling or creasing. Also claimed is a reel arrangement used for carrying out this method. |
