PURPOSE:To produce 2-imidazolones via one step reaction process by reacting a 1,2-diol with an urea in the presence of a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:After charging a catalyst, a 1,2-diol, an urea and, as necessary, a solvent into a reactor, a 2-imidazolone is produced in a condition of 80-240 deg.C, an autogenous pressure and 0.05-100hr reaction time. This reaction is new and enables one step production of a 2-imidazolone from industrially available raw materials. Industrial practice is expected therefor. |
