PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to quickly and continuously scroll maps without omitting them. SOLUTION: The map scrolling method is prepared for a navigation device for displaying a map around the position of a vehicle itself or a map around a cursor position on a screen 3 and scrolling the displayed map to a specified direction by scrolling operation. At time other than scrolling, a map image is generated by prescribed 1st resolution and stored in a VRAM 14 and a map segmentation control part 15 segments the map image around the position of its own vehicle or the map image around the cursor position from the VRAM 14 and displays the segmented image on the screen 3 by the 1st resolution. At the time of scrolling, a map plotting part 13 generates a map image by 2nd resolution lower than the 1st resolution, stores the generated image in the VRAM 14, moves the cursor position by scrolling operation, segments the map image around the cursor position from the VRAM 14, and displays the segmented image on the screen 3 by the 2nd resolution. |
