PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the safety of a battery and enhance the reliability by surely stopping chemical reaction causing temperature rising before the temperature within the battery causes explosion of the battery. SOLUTION: Sharp increase in temperature within a secondary battery is detected with a temperature detecting means 2, an abnormal temperature signal is outputted to an operation switching means 3 to switch to the abnormal side, a power source between positive and negative electrode E is shut off from an outside circuit 6, and a closed loop is formed between the power source between positive and negative electrodes E and a discharge means 4. Storage battery energy of the power source between positive and negative electrodes E is converted to Joule heat through a conductive resistant wire 13, released, and chemical reaction within the secondary battery is stopped to prevent an abnormal state. When excess current exceeding the rated current flows in the secondary battery by short on the outside of the battery, a current fuse 5 is fused, and the closed loop between the power source between positive and negative electrodes E and the outer circuit 6 is shut off. The excess current flowing in the battery is eliminated, and the secondary battery is prevented from the excess current flow. |
