PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a desired color by setting conversion relations for remaining colors except a specific number of colors for device data and then easily performing color conversion between device data with at least four colors having different output conditions. SOLUTION: Conversion relations between device data with at least four colors having different output conditions are set for remaining colors, except for three colors of the device data. For example, when device data CMYK of a mapping source of an image output device for forming a printed matter under an output condition A are converted into device data C'M'Y'K' of a mapping source of another image output device which to form a printed matter under an output condition B, wherein color reproduction characteristics of a reproduction range, etc., are different from those of the output condition A, forward converting functions HA and HB of CMYK→Lab under the output conditions A and B and a reverse conversion function HBK<-1> having fixed K is found from them. Then CMYK→Lab→C'M'Y'K' is found by using these forward converting function HA and reverse converting the function HBK<-1> .
