PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical branching device with a simple configuration that is able to flexibly cope with branching/confluent control of light signals with variable wavelength, when a network configuration in a wavelength multiplex optical communication system is changed or the wavelength of a transmission light signal is changed with time lapse. SOLUTION: This device is constituted of an optical circulator 5 that branches a signal with a specific wavelength for a second port 2 among light signals with plural wavelengths inputted from a 1st port 1 and outputs light signals other than the specific wavelength, a variable-wavelength optical notch filter 6 that eliminates part of particular wavelength bands from the output light of the optical circulator 5 and outputs to a third port, a light detection section 32 that receives a control light signal among an output light of the optical circulator 5, a control section 33 that controls the elimination of the particular wavelength band of the variable-wavelength optical notch filter 6 which is based on a control signal outputted from the light detection section 32, and an output light from the third port 3. |
