PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the device which gives almost uniform and moreover sufficient quantity of light, even in view from any position. SOLUTION: The light reflected as S polarized light on a polarizing plate 4 on the side of a liquid crystal panel is made into circularly polarized light and returned to a light transmission plate 1 by being passed through a compensation plate 5. Afterwards, the rotating direction of the circularly polarized light is inverted by reflection on a reflection plate 2 on the lower surface of the light transmission plate 1. Afterwards, the light is made into P polarized light in respect to the polarizing plate 4 and passed through the polarizing plate 4 by being passed through the compensation plate 5 again. Thus, the S poralized light, which can not be passed through the polarizing plate 4 up to now, is converted to the P polarized light by the compensation plate 5 and can be passed through the polarizing plate 4. Therefore, the illuminating intensity of the liquid crystal panel can be remarkably improved. |
