<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate rough positioning and to shorten the time required for alignment by making a semiconductor light receiving element emit light, utilizing the optical output and aligning the optical axis of the semiconductor light receiving element and an optical fiber. SOLUTION: In the state of making a forward direction current flow to a waveguide type semiconductor light receiving element 11 and making it emit the light, the element 11 and a lens 4 are positioned by using a camera and a display device so as to position the near visual field image of the element 11 on the center axis of the lens 4. Emitted light intensity becomes high as the current made to flow to the element 11 is large, however, it is turned to about 50 mA for not giving irreversible damages to the element 11. Then, in the state of making the element 11 emit the light, the optical fiber 2 is brought closer to the center of the lens 4 and output from the optical fiber 2 is monitored by a power meter 5. Then, the position of the optical fiber 2 is adjusted and it is positioned so as to maximize the optical coupling efficiency of the optical fiber 2.</p> |
