摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high polymer dispersion liquid crystal display element excellent in contrast, and a threshold characteristic, having uniform display quality and a high specific resistance and an excellent charge holding characteristic, allowing a drive voltage to be reduced as a reflection type, and having a high reliability, and to provide a method of manufacturing this element easily and stably. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display element is an element characterized in that liquid crystal 105 and high polymers 104 are aligned in the same direction when an electric field is not impressed, in a phase wherein the liquid crystal 105 and the high polymers 104 are dispersed from each other and phase- separated, and the manufacturing method is characterized in that after the high polymers 104 or high polymer precursors are mixed with the liquid crystal 105 when they are in a liquid phase, the liquid crystal 105 and the high polymers 104 or the high polymer precursors are aligned, and then, the high polymers 104 and the high polymer precursors are cured.
