A method is claimed for the production of brake disk using a hot machining operation of a cast steel component (1) containing at least one of the following elements: molybdenum, more than 0.3 % chromium and copper. The hot machining operation is a laser-assisted turning process. The device used to implement this method is also claimed and incorporates either a horizontal lathe for machining a single face of the disc or a vertical lathe for simultaneously machining two faces of the disc.
