Method to collect gas sample from gas relay of oil-cooled transformer

The method involves connecting the gas collection relay, so that any corruption of the gas sample by prior production of a near vacuum in the sample holder is prevented. The method also involves using a non-return valve to ensure that the collected sample cannot flow out once collected. The method involves hermetically sealing a sample holder valve element (22) to a sampling opening (6) of a gas collection relay (19). The valve element is then opened and directly after a signal indicating a certain suction pressure within the probe holder (1), which indicates that it is effectively empty, a pure gas sample can then be taken into the holder, with any corruption prevented by a non-return valve (5). The valve can then be closed at leisure prior to removal of the sample holder for storage and or analysis. An Independent claim is made for a device for collecting a gas sample from a gas collection relay.
