A battery casing, which is excellent in volume efficiency and corrosion resistance and is enhanced in mechanical strength to be thereby made high in sealing quality with no solution leakage. A clad metallic sheet formed by cladding an aluminum sheet (11) on a nickel plated steel sheet (12) is subjected to drawing or DI process to have a shape of bottomed-cylinder with the aluminum sheet (11) inside, thereby manufacturing the battery casing. The battery casing thus manufactured is excellent in corrosion resistance and is enhanced in mechanical strength to be thereby made high in sealing quality with no solution leakage.
