A textile reinforcing layer for flexible hoses, tubes and similar extended objects which comprise at least one inner layer, an inventive textile reinforcing layer and an outer layer joined to the textile reinforcing layer and the inner layer. Said textile reinforcing layer is comprised of a stiffening material which has a stiffening effect at normal ambient temperature in at least one direction that deviates from the longitudinal axis of the object which is to be reinforced, especially in a substantially perpendicular position in relation to the longitudinal axis thereof. This enables the textile reinforcing layer to be mechanically applied to the inner layer in an optimum manner, thereby avoiding folds.
