Hard and soft sound damping layers (12,13) are made from rigid foam, especially expanded polystyrene (EPS). The soft layers are obtained by making the rigid foam (16) in the bath support, resilient. An Independent claim is included for the corresponding bath support or carrier. PREFERRED FEATURES:- Making the damping layers resilient is achieved by local deformation of the rigid foam. The bath support or carrier (11) and damping layers are made of rigid foam of the same chemical composition. The damping layers are constructed integrally on the bath support. They alternatively form components of separate dampers between the support and wall (18) or floor (19). A further similar variant is described.
