The driving tool, for dowels with anchor rods (1) and spreading sleeves (4), has a marker (17) at the base (15) of the blind drilling (11) to take the sleeve body (8). When the anchor has been driven home, a permanent marking is left on the trailing end surface (3) of the anchor rod. The marker is a prong projection, extending (x) over the base of the blind drilling. The ratio of its projection to the dia. (d) of the blind drilling is 0.1-1.7 and pref. 0.3-1.2. The prong is stepped in at least two zones, with different dias.
