<p>A covered elastic thread which is free from disorder of the winding shape, covering unevenness, entanglement, kinky thread, etc. in the manufacturing process of a fiber product and which comprises a core thread and a covering thread uniformly wound around the core thread even after the process. After the elastic thread (core thread) is covered with covering thread, the covered elastic thread is heated at a temperature 60 - 20 °C lower than the melting point of the covering thread for the heat fixing so as to bond the covering thread tightly to the core thread. The number (Tc) of twists for 1 m of the core thread which does not cause kinky thread is within the range expressed by formula (1): To - 300 ∑ d ≤ Tc ≤ To + 300 ∑ d where d is the size of a single yarn fineness of the covering thread (denier), and To is the number of turns of the covering thread for 1 m of the core thread. The potential contraction ratio is preferably not less than 85 % of the total contraction ratio. As the covering thread, nylon thread is preferable. Fiber products which have high quality, soft and confortable feeling, transparency and good fashionableness can be made of the covered thread. Since a high density covered elastic fiber can be manufactured easily, the fiber is suitable for thin high-grade fiber products, such as especially stockings and underclothing.</p> |
