<p>A wire cut electric discharge machining apparatus having a first wire guide that is movable relative to a workpiece in the direction of a first axis on an X-Y plane including an X-axis and a Y-axis intersecting at right angles with each other, and a second wire guide that is movable relative to the workpiece in the direction of a second axis in parallel with the direction of the first axis, and adapted to machine the workpiece by generating an electric discharge between the workpiece and a wire electrode that run between the first wire guide and the second wire guide, characterized in that limitation is imposed on the sum of the amount of motion in the direction of the first axis and the amount of motion in the direction of the second axis in order to prevent the collision of the members constituting the apparatus.</p> |
