Scrubber nozzle array for flue gas desulfurization or purification of incinerator flue gases

In the scrubber column, nozzles form droplet distributions entitled wash zones. Several auxiliary nozzles (6) pointing upwards form wash zones (7) at about the same height as, and additional to those formed by primary nozzles. The additional zones are located close to the internal side walls. Preferred Features: All wash zones completely fill the cross section of the washing volume (2). Auxiliary nozzles are arrayed in succession along the side wall (1), where their additional wash zones overlap. Inter-auxiliary nozzle spacing is 0.5-1.5 m and they are slot nozzles. Above the auxiliary nozzles, impact baffles reform the spray. At least one auxiliary wash zone has the shape of a jet, fountain or curtain. There is a second scrubbing plane below the first. Additional nozzles are located at the former.
