<p>An angle-of-rotation measuring instrument in which a linearly polarized light transmits through a sample cell (4), the transmitting light is separated into two polarized light components different from each other by 90 degrees, the separated polarized light components are respectively detected by two photodetectors (6a and 6b) and an angle of rotation is measured by using the difference in output levels between both the photodetectors. As a solenoid coil is used in a conventional instrument which measures an angle of rotation by using a Faraday effect, the handling, reduction of the size and reduction of the power consumption of the instrument are difficult but those problems can be solved by the new measuring instrument.</p> |
