An osmotic waterproofing agent which is easy to apply and excellent in cutoff performances. The agent mainly comprises a hydrophilic resin and a gelling agent therefor and is used in the form packed in a water-permeable material, sprayed as a mixture thereof with water, or applied after being infiltrated into film or spongy material. It is also mixed with cement or a mortar composition to give waterproofed building material.
