In a method for automatic answering in a telephone system, an incoming call from a call subscriber terminal (A) is detected (201; 301; 401; 501) at an answer subscriber terminal (B). Then a code is detected (302; 402, 403, 408; 503, 504), and depending on the code, a voice message is played (202; 303; 409, 410; 502) at the answer subscriber terminal (B).
