Continuous non-woven heating comprises: (i) moving at a uniform speed through a thermal treatment station where a gas stream of predetermined velocity and temperature passes through it to pre-heat it; (ii) mechanically treating; and (iii) using the gas velocity and temperature and the treatment length so that at all treatment speeds including zero speed the melting point of the filaments and/or fibres is not exceeded. Also claimed is the appts. for heating a moving continuous nonwoven.
