Improvements to systems of the type which have a reception area or vestibule 3 with a hoist (lift, elevator) 4 which includes a transfer carriage 5 which accepts the vehicle, a turret 6 being located to the side of the hoist through the displacement of a power carriage 8 which travels via tracks 7 in order to deposit the vehicle on the turrets, operation being controlled by a control centre 10. It is characterized in that, in the reception area or vestibule 3 and in the power carriages 8, there are control modules which operate independently and which are connected to the control centre 10 so that all functions can be coordinated. The control module of the vestibule has means for controlling the operation of the hoist and of the transfer carriage, forming a whole which can manoeuvre independently of the control centre. The vestibule area 3 has programmable means 15 for correctly and rapidly positioning the vehicle for its subsequent handling by the transfer carriage 5. In addition, improvements are made to each one of the elements independently. <IMAGE>
