PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a high efficiency welding possible having a good bead appearance by preventing a solidification cracking due to a rotary deformation during welding, which used to happen at one side welding. SOLUTION: With a Y or V shaped groove having a groove angle of 30-60 deg., a tack welding is conducted within a groove with a gap of 3 mm or less at a tack welding factor K of 0.8 or more, a tack bead height ht of 8 mm or less shown in a formula. Tack welding factor K=(tack bead length)×(tack bead height)/(tack bead pitch). A backing member is attached to the rear side of the groove, and a steel grain or an iron powder is sprayed within the groove up to the height 1/4-2/3 of the plate thickness. A solid wire is used and the weld is conducted setting a wire electric current density at 220-290 A/mm<2> , while reciprocating the wire 50-150 times/minute.
