PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent breakage of a sewn part of a tether to restrict expansion of the body of an air bag in the width direction by a gas pressure without using a separately provided cloth, etc. SOLUTION: An air bag system for side impact is configured so that the body 4 of air bag formed in a sack shape is accommodated together with an inflator 6 in a case which is embedded in the side face of a seat back, wherein a tether 7 to restrict inflation of the air bag body 4 in the width direction is installed inside the air bag body 4, and between the tether 7 positioned ahead of the inflator 6 and the inflator 6 a flameproof cloth 9 is provided to prevent the high temp. gas spouted from the inflator 6 from blowing to the tether 7 directly or to the sewn part of the tether 7 with the air bag body 4. According to this configuration, there is no risk that the tether 7 and/or its sewn part are broken by the heat, so that the air bag body 4 can be inflated into the specified shape momentarily. |
