<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a toner which solves problems, which occur when a copying machine is used longer, of fog or insufficient fixing in a conventional fine particle toner containing no CCA (a charge controlling material such as a dye and a pigment) and provides a high resolution image and no paper jam. SOLUTION: A vinyl copolymer for a toner comprises, as structural units, a styrene-based monomer, a (meth)acrylic ester monomer and a monomer (AM) containing an amino group, in which the AM is present at a level of 0.1-10 wt.% based on the total of the monomers. The copolymer has one or more relative maximum values of its weight average molecular weight distribution in respective ranges of 3×10<3> -4×10<4> on a lower molecular weight (PL) side and 3×10<5> -8×10<6> on a larger molecular weight (PH) side, and the relative maximum value ratio (PH/PL) is 0.15-1.0. The copolymer has a molecular weight distribution ratio (Mw/Mn) of 10-180, a glass transition temperature of 50 deg.C or higher, a solid specific gravity of less than 0.68 g/cc, a repose angle of less than 27 deg. and a BET specific surface area of 0.01-1.0 m<2> /g.</p> |
