PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the elution of a metallic component and maintain the effects by the contained metallic component for a long time. SOLUTION: A wood is impregnated with a treating agent containing a metal which has lignin and/or a lignin derivative, and a metal, a metallic compound and/or a metallic ion. In addition, the lignin and/or the lignin derivative are oxidized and/or polymerized in the wood, so that the metallic compound is immobilized in the wood. Consequently, the elution properties of the metal, metallic compound and/or the metallic ion as useful components are ameliorated and the treated wood is obtained which shows useful effects such as antibiotic properties and non-environmental contamination properties over a long period of time. |
