<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an method for efficiently sterilizing seed of farm crops cultured in a protected horticulture of bean sprout, white radish sprout, etc., capable of completely killing pathogenic microorganism, especially Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, etc., free from fear in which a chemical used for sterilizing treatment remains and not having a bad influence upon seed culture, e.g. germination starting of seed in sterilization treatment and lowering of germination rate and obtain a germinated material sterilized or not having Escherichia coli and/or Salmonella typhimurium. SOLUTION: Ozone vapor phase in high concentration, more preferably ozone vapor phase in an ozone concentration of >=1,000 ppm is brought into contact with seeds in the presence of a small amount of water fed in plural divided portions, preferably in an amount of 6-20 wt.% based on seeds and seeds subjected to the above treatment is germinated and cultured to provide the objective germinated material.</p> |
